On June 21, 2021, OSHA issued an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) to protect workers in healthcare settings, finding that COVID-19 presented a grave danger to those workers and that the ETS was necessary to protect them (86 FR 32376).As of that date, nearly a half million healthcare workers had contracted COVID-19 and more than 1600 of those workers had died.
