CMS published a final rule, Strengthening Oversight of AO and Preventing AO Conflicts of Interest, on June 12, 2026, to strengthen oversight of Accrediting Organizations (AOs), which survey and accredit more than 9,000 Medicare-certified healthcare providers and suppliers.
