Effective immediately, Joint Commission stated it will survey to manufacturers’ instructions for use (IFU) requirements only, not recommendations as stated at WT.01.01.01 for laboratories and home care organizations. This change aligns to CLIA’s focus on mandatory instructions not advisory guidance. It also noted that if an organization’s own policies adopt IFU recommendations as requirements, Joint Commission will evaluate against the organization’s stated policy.
