The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has repealed the minimum staffing standards for long-term care (LTC) originally issued in May 2024.
The 2024 Minimum Staffing final rule imposed federally mandated minimum standards on long-term care (LTC) facilities. The rule required a total “hours per resident day” (HPRD) staffing minimum and also mandated that a Registered Nurse (RN) be on-site 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, providing direct resident care.
