Influenza-Associated Pediatric Mortality Reaches New High

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Weekly US Influenza Surveillance Report ending July 19, 2025, five influenza-associated pediatric deaths occurring during the 2024-2025 season were reported to CDC during Week 29.

This brings the total of pediatric deaths reported to the CDC during the 2024-2025 influenza season to 266, the highest number of pediatric deaths reported in any non-pandemic influenza season since the condition became reportable in 2004.
