Provisional 2024 data from the Centers for Disease Control show a continuing rise in newborn syphilis, with nearly 4,000 cases reported nationwide, a 2% increase from 2023 and a 700% increase since 2015. Despite progress in reducing overall sexually transmitted infections (STIs), congenital syphilis remains a deadly yet preventable outcome of the persistent STI epidemic.
