The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released revisions to Appendix A of the State Operations Manual (SOM) for Hospitals to include new interpretive guidelines and survey processes, reflecting updates to the Hospital Conditions of Participation (CoPs) from rules released in 2019 and 2020. According to CMS, the publication of this guidance was delayed due to COVID-19 public health priorities.
